Canada’s biggest WJC Goal with John Slaney!

The 1991 World Junior Tournament came down to the two 80s hockey power houses.  It was the Soviet Union vs Team Canada on Canadian soil.  As the entire country looked on  an OHL defensemen stepped up during the 3rd period and helped Canada take home the gold.  Today he joins us to relieve that magical moment.  Join us as John tells us about scoring one of the biggest goals in Canadian Hockey History, plus playing with Eric Lindros, life behind the scenes and more!.  We review his entire World Junior run with team Canada from training camp to the team celebrating!  Enjoy the interview and Happy Holidays!!!!

Behind the Bench in the Windy City with Craig Hartsburg

Creating an NHL Franchise with Doug Maclean

In 1996 John McConnell the founder of Worthington Industries applied for an NHL franchise.  Once awarded he knew he needed the right guy to lead the franchise.  He tapped a Former NHL coach to become the face of the Columbus Blue Jackets named Doug Maclean.   This week Doug walks us through the formation and inaugural season of the Columbus Blue Jackets.  Hear all about the expansion draft, the NHL draft, Who he wanted on his staff, picking a head coach and so much more!

Doug also talk about what he's up to now since leaving Rogers.  This is a fantastic interview and one not to miss if you're interested in the business side of hockey, as well as what goes into running a franchise.

The Minnesota North Stars 1st Crack at the Stanley Cup with Brad Maxwell!

The Minnesota North Stars regular 80-81 season was nothing to write home about.  But when it came time for the playoffs they captured lightning in a bottle!  Join us as former North Stars D-Man Brad Maxwell takes us back to 1981 and shares with us his experiences during the playoffs.  Hear about the young rookie and future HOF'er who captured everyones hearts and had his own "DINOsaur".  Plenty of legendary Lou Nanne Stories as well as why head coach Glen Somnor wore a patch over his eye for one game and who he thinks was the best he ever played against!!
